ABOUT BEYOND BAROQUE

OUR SPACE

Surrounded by a vibrant community garden, Beyond Baroque’s expansive arts space includes a used & new bookstore,
black-box theater, and art gallery, all housed in Venice’s historic city hall (built in 1906).

BOOKSTORE

The Scott Wannberg Bookstore and Poetry Lounge at Beyond Baroque holds the largest collection of new and used poetry in the city, with an unparalleled selection of books by local writers and small press publications.

GALLERY

Named after the world-renowned musician, artist, and longtime friend of Beyond Baroque, Mike Kelley (d. 2012), our gallery hosts bimonthly exhibitions of known and emerging artists from around the world.

THEATER

As venue to over 150 literary readings, musical performances, and arts performances per year, our theater is “where the magic happens.”

GARDEN

Cared for and cultivated by Safe Place for Youth, our garden is an oasis of growth and abundance in the often stifling concrete mesh of Los Angeles.

Most of our spaces are available for rental on a limited basis. Check our rentals page for more info!
