Staff Promotions of Iván Salinas & Jimmy Vega




As we head into a new season at Beyond Baroque, we are excited to announce our recent staff promotions of Programs Manager Iván Salinas and Associate Director Jimmy Vega. Please join us in congratulating them on their well-deserved promotions!

Iván Salinas joined Beyond Baroque in 2021 as a Poetry Coalition Fellow and became Programs Coordinator in 2022. Born in Mexico City and raised in the San Fernando Valley, he is a poet and co-editor of Drifter Zine. An alumnus of Cal State Northridge, his work has been published in The Acentos Review, Mobile Data Mag, La Raíz Magazine, and elsewhere. He is publishing a bilingual zine-turned-chapbook, Dealer: prosa poetica for a carcacha, in 2024. He lives in Panorama City with Madi and their dog, Rocket.

jimmy vega joined Beyond Baroque as an intern in 2019, became Bookstore Manager in 2020, Operations Manager & Workshops Coordinator in 2021, and Assistant Director in 2022. The child of Mexican immigrants, they are a Chicanx Los Angeles born-and-raised poet, writer, educator, artist, and curator. He holds an MFA from the School of Critical Studies, Creative Writing Program at CalArts, where they co-created the MFA in Creative Writing’s HYPERLINK reading series, and a B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from UCLA. In 2023, their work was on view at The Reef Los Angeles in the group exhibit Spell/ing, and he was a 2023 ELL Faculty Fellow at CalArts. Their debut poetry collection will be published by What Books Press in 2025.
