JANUARY/FEBRUARY
DEAD ROCK STARS Art Exhibit Sunday, 10 January Opening reception Closing Reading, January 30, 1-3pm Exhibit Runs 10 January to 6 February 2016 FREE |

What is it about rock that fulfills a Death Wish? What came first: the death wish or the rock? Artist KIM NICOLLINI asks these and other questions not only about the Dead Rock Stars themselves, but the fascination with them. These are not portraits. They are more like maps or evidence of the energy that the Rock Stars left us when they left the world. They could be images of all of us on some level or at least pieces of us. Ultimately she says: “ I’m bringing back the dead to celebrate life. I want to say, “Hey, maybe you are dead, but you are not forgotten.”
Join us for the opening reception on January 10 from 3-7pm. Drop into the theater at 4pm and 6pm when KIM NICOLLINI will be reading from her Dead Rock Stars book. Kim will be reading the letters she wrote to the musicians. The letters are prose poems that are odes to these musical visionaries, time capsules of history through music, and intimate memoir vignettes. Kim is a poet as well as visual artist. Her work comes from a long tradition of spoken word and performance art. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear as well as see her art.
